- The College of Saint Rose Music
Department has moved in to new Massry Center for the Arts in
August 2008.
The new building is fabulous and we all enjoy very much these
days! The most exciting part for me was the delivery of
three new Steinway Grand Pianos for the recital hall and two rehearsal
halls as well as eight Boston pianos. It is a very exciting moment
for all of us at St. Rose!

- I visited Steinway factory in Long
Island City, NY twice this year (Feb. & Aug. 2008) to select one
Concert Grand model D and two model Bs for new Massry Center for
the Arts at The College of Saint Rose. My former teacher,
Lydia Artymiw, generously agreed
to be a Steinway selection committee for St. Rose and accompanied
me on Feb. trip. We selected a beautiful model D for our new
Picotte Recital Hall at Massry. |

- I had a wonderful teaching
experience at
Konkuk University in July 2008.
It was their inaugural year of Young Gifted Musicians Academy.
There were 60 gifted young musicians who received a full Music
Scholarship from the City of Seoul. For me, the memorable
part was giving two lectures on a topic of "Music Education in US"
Best wishes to Konkuk University
and Young Gifted Musicians Academy! |

- I performed Gershwin Concerto in F
with Schenectady Symphony Orchestra conducted by Charles Schneider
at Proctor's Theater. The following is the review from Daily
Gazette: "Fortunately, George Gershwin's Piano Concerto in
F Major saved the day with a sparkling performance from Young Kim,
a music professor at The College of Saint Rose. Kim gave a
poetic interpretation to the three movements with well sung melodies, clean technique,
and a pacing that allowed her to shape the music into delicately
etched arches. Her playing showed much thought. Not a note or nuance
was out of control. Kim also took the role of collaborator rather
than star, which made for seamless connections... The audience jumped to its feet with
elation." |
