College teaching

For 19 years, Dr. Young Kim was a Professor of Piano at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.

At Saint Rose, Dr. Kim’s main area of teaching was Applied Piano Lessons (MUS 393) for piano major students. She prepared students to perform for their Senior Recital (MUS 450) and Capstone Project (MUS 490). She taught the following courses from 2002-2021:

In 2009, Dr. Kim founded a concert series, "Young Kim and Saint Rose Pianists." This faculty-student collaborative annual recital has been well-established in the Capital Region. The main venue is the Picotte Recital Hall at The Massry Center for the Arts and additional performances are often presented at secondary schools, colleges, and senior living communities as well as other concert venues off campus. Each season features a different theme with performances and an introductory talks about the featured composer's life and music.
